What is the F.L.A.G. Club?
The F.L.A.G. Club had their first meeting and training on Sept. 7, 2017 with Mr. Hawes (University of West GA practicum student) and myself (Mrs. Obaidullah). We discussed the importance of showing respect to the American flag and State of Georgia flag. The crew members were also taught the proper way of folding the American flag while also being able to practice with our fellow F.L.A.G. Club crew members. Also, we would like to thank Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) Rodney Fagan, from Osborne High School, for contributing some American flags for the F.L.A.G. Club crew members to practice with. The crew members will start a rotation on mornings & afternoons, being responsible and held accountable for flying & gathering the flags every school day. 1st grade - Self-Control
3rd grade - Introduction to Bullying Behavior 5th grade - Respect All of the lessons I have planned for this semester are based on a teacher's needs assessment as well as a student's needs assessment. I like to focus on the topics and ideas that students and teachers may need additional help with. During my first lesson, the students were able to tell me what they, individually, need to work on, while also focusing on what their class may need to work on as well. WELCOME TO THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR!!
My counseling lessons in classes will begin on August 15th for 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. Lessons in classes will take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays, on a 2-week rotation. In 1st grade, I will re-introduce the role of a school counselor - what I do, what my job is, how & why students may need to come talk to me. In grades 3 & 5, I will go over my role as well, while focusing on goals for the new school year. I'm looking forward to a successful school year! |
